Dr. Vivek Gundappa is an accomplished Interventional Pulmonology and Respiratory Emergency Specialist, Pulmonologist specializing in Asthma and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease with 8 years of experience in the field. He earned his MBBS and MD (Pulmonary Medicine) from Rajarajeswari Medical College and Hospital. He further honed his expertise through a Fellowship in Interventional Pulmonology from AAS5 Friuli Occidentale – S. C. di Pneumologia, Pordenone, Italy.

Dr. Vivek Gundappa’s special expertise lies in interventional pulmonology, airway disease, pulmonary fibrosis and sleep medicine. Dr. Vivek’s approach to medicine is evidence based and he actively seeks to stay abreast of the latest advancements in his field. Dr. Vivek is especially skilled at Interventional Pulmonology and has trained in advanced airway and pleural procedures such as: Thoracoscopy, EBUS (Endobronchial ultrasound), Rigid bronchoscopy and advanced central airway procedures, Peripheral pulmonary nodule navigation and biopsy

Notably, Dr. Vivek played a pivotal role in establishing an Interventional Pulmonology unit at Rajarajeswari Medical College and Hospital, a NABH and NAAC “A” Grade accredited tertiary care centre with 1500 beds. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he served as the Nodal Officer for COVID-19 at the same institution, showcasing exceptional dedication and leadership. In recognition of his exemplary work during the pandemic, he was rewarded with a promotion as Deputy Medical Superintendent and Joint Registrar.
